Unfortunately we got off to a late start & didn’t meet up with Ian until
lunch was due & going by the sounds of it, we missed some great fun during
the morning.
Ian had all but completed most of the seven courses on offer already, with
only two to go. Wayne jumped in as navi & off they went to complete the
parking event & the Zook’s final course for the weekend ‘mine sweeper’, an
interesting & very challenging negotiation through a thick muddy boggy area,
collecting ‘mines’.

Ian had left his camera at home & arranged with the event marshal’s, who
were all great sports, for us to get some pic’s. Even though they were still
busy getting cars through their events, they still allowed Ian to give
things a second go for some photo opportunities.
Events out of the way & it was time to kick back & socialise with all. A
very healthy smorgasbord of all our favourite junk foods was to be had,
while discussing the finer issues associated with bonnet talk & vehicle
set-ups, around the very massive bon-fire.

By 4.30pm some of us were getting hungry, so we headed down the road to the
brand new ‘exactly’ halfway café ‘Grey Gums’ to get our orders in before
they closed at five. Even though they have only been open a few weeks or so,
they were still busy this time of night & it took some time to get all the
meals out, but it was well worth it. On closing, the owner came out &
introduced herself & advised we are most welcome to leave a sticker on their
‘advert’ window for those who have been there (something to do for next
time), she genuinely appreciated the feedback. They have some great plans &
it will be great to see how the ideas go.
The staff advised there is free camping, horse yards, plenty of parking &
great food to be had, BUT a shower will cost you five bucks, so looks like
this could be a great place to use as a base for the tracks in the area & we
wouldn’t have to cook either!

Belly’s full, so we headed back to camp for a second round of bonnet talk &
the usual shenanigans’ associated with these types of activities.
Something not to be missed in this report is the fact that a couple of 3
year old lads have very quickly taught Ian to pack his things away & not
leave them laying around camp during the evening. Once befriended by Ian,
Michael & Jack were very proud of the fact they had found MANY treasures in
& around Ian’s camp. To reward them, Ian showed them how to light his
portable stove & in return, they continued to light & re-light it until he
eventually hid it from them, they even knew how to cook on it too. Lesson
#1 ! (see pic’s)

Blue Mountains club provided an evening of entertainment by way of some very
amusing ‘boat races & topped it off with a huge fireworks display which all
the kids big & small loved.
It was getting colder as the night wore on & with the long drive home, we
headed off & left Ian to catch up with mates.

More Off Road arrivals were due for Sunday & I’m sure they can fill you in
on the rest.
Cheers Karen.
