Ian organised a day out at Colo after
Christmas for some of the members to give them some harder driving options.
The rain was still around but that didn't dampen everyone's interest. We had
a few hiccups on the way to the meeting point as the 'LJ' had a wiring
problem on the Cumberland Highway and thanks to the NRMA who did a
make-shift wiring fix up, we arrived an hour late (much to the delight of
everyone else who did not let us live it down the whole day). Ah well guys
better late than never they say.

We tried out one track that was really
interesting and Paul needed some help as his tyre came off the rim, but the
others in the group - Brad, James, Ian & Wayne were experts at this having
encountered the problem heaps of times in their competitive experiences. We
were soon on our way again but unfortunately the track came to a halt and
more work needed to widen it, so we decided to turn around and head off to
another powerline track.

Once everyone aired down, we started
our way along the winding track and came across some good drop offs and
climbs that put our guiding skills to the test. It was great to see everyone
have a go at guiding each other down or up the track and it showed how much
our newer members have learnt in their short time in the Club....great job
guys

With the unexpected late start, time
was getting away from us and so we stopped for lunch at the top of one of
the better steps at around 2.00pm and then we made our way back down to head
off home.

It was a really great day out with some
excellent challenging tracks culminating in some top driving by all the
drivers. Everyone joined in the guiding and rock building tasks and made it
a real team event.
Can't wait for the next day out to get
even further along the track
