Honeymoon Bay is a great place to relax
- do some swimming, fishing, playing bocce on the beach.
We had a good trip down through
Kangaroo Valley and the mist on the mountain was awesome. We met up with
Kate, Lee, Jayden & Mahalia at Nowra where we picked up our fishing license
for the weekend, then it was off to the camping ground to set up. Kate & Lee
borrowed our tent for the weekend so we had some laughs watching them put it
up. Before long everyone was set up so it was time to join forces in putting
up the Club marquee and get some lunch.

After lunch on Saturday, Keith,
Phillip, Ian & myself tried our hand at some fishing off the rocks. We
had some good bites but they all got away. Kate & Lee decided to do some
snorkelling in the bay while Mahalia watched Jayden in the water. They had
more success than us, and came back with some abalone & sea urchins that
they had as an entree.
The Club had provided dinner &
breakfast for the weekend so we all set about getting tea prepared. Mark set
about BBQing the hamburgers & kebabs, I organised the jacket potatoes &
everyone else sliced & diced the veggies for Ian's stir fry. This was
finished off with cheesecake & custard for dessert. What a feast we
had !

After dinner we all headed off to the
pier for some night fishing. Mark, Fay, Keith & Phillip decided to try their
luck on the beach while Kate, Lee, Ian & I headed for the jetty. It was
lovely & peaceful sitting there in the dark & we watched the lights from
Huskisson across the water in the distance. Kate scored herself a catch and
Ian had a good bite that got away, but Lee & I didn't have much luck. We
headed back to see what the others were up to and Keith had hooked on to
something that was putting up a good fight. We stayed with him for about 20
mins while he tried to bring in the catch, but as soon as the line was
almost to shore, his catch took off, line & all. We headed back to camp &
James had arrived, so Mark cooked him up some dinner & we all had a chat for
a while then headed off to bed.

Breakfast was another feast with Fay &
Phillip organising the toast, Ian cooking up the bacon, eggs & tomatoes and
Keith did a great job on the 'bubble & squeak'....yumm
After breakfast had settled, Ian & I
took Fay, Keith & Phillip up to have a look at the old lighthouse and the
harbour view while the others headed back to the beach.

We all had lunch and then Ian led
everyone off to the beach for a game of bocce. What a hoot !
Teams of two were chosen and the game was afoot. It didn't take long for
Phillip & Keith to catch on and were putting up a good challenge to the
others. Kate & Ian came out the winners on the first round and Fay & Lee
decided to have a go in the second round. After a while everyone on the
beach was watching & laughing at the antics of the 'Bocce Brigade'

Mark & James decided to head off home
and the rest of us packed up the camp and were soon on the road as well. We
said our goodbyes to Kate, Lee & Mahalia at Nowra & continued on towards
Kangaroo Valley. Unfortunately going around one of the steep bends up the
mountain, Ian lost all clutch & had no gears & had to pull over. Some
passers by stopped to give assistance with traffic control while Keith
headed up to a flat spot to drop off his van & come back to tow our car with
the camper trailer. Go the 60 Series! it didn't miss a beat
pulling us up the mountain. Luckily someone was home on the property at the
top & I was able to call NRMA for assistance. We waited 3 hours before the
tow arrived but he was a lovely guy & we pulled into home at 10.30pm.
Unfortunately we were to find out that the clutch, gearbox & transfer case
all had to be replaced - nothing like doing it all in one go

Thanks everyone for making it a great
weekend and especially to Fay, Keith & Phillip for helping us up the
mountain and keeping us company while waiting for the tow.
Can't wait for the next trip down there
& hopefully catch some fish next time.
