It was 5am when Gordon and I left and when we got up to Glenbrook we got some fuel for the truck and then went to find a Macca's so we could have brekky but they were closed!!!! (Sad Face)...

So then we went to the meeting place at Glenbrook where the information centre is and by that time it was about 5:45am and then 10mins later that's when Ian and Margaret turned up followed by Rob and Kathy and Chris & Jessica..... Ian filled everyone in on what is going to happen, who tail-end Charlie was going to be and who would be the leader, and by 6:30am, or just before, we were hitting the road and I was in the car complaining about my being hungry (as always)..

On the way to Lithgow down the mountain, the wind picked up and it was SNOWING on the way down and we drove really, really slow and carefully down the mountain to make sure everyone was okay. Once we got to the bottom, we drove to the servo and stopped for brekky ( did I forget to say it was really, really COLD down there !!!). We all sat inside and had some hot chocolate and brekky and it was really good.

We left after about 30 to 45mins and as we were leaving we noticed a car in the carpark that was covered in snow..... We headed off to Lake Lyall for driver training. On the way up to Lake Lyall we had some tree branches on the road... and then we got to the dirt road where we let our tyres down in the cold weather... Next we were off to the camp site and we arrived there at about 8am or 8:30am.... Gordon and I (Andrew) were not staying the night, but we helped out Ian, Margaret, and Rob and his gang set up their camper trailers. All the while it was snowing... it was something to remember. When everyone was finished, we all had morning tea with some fruit cake and chocolate cup cakes and tea and coffee. Ian was explaining what we were going to be doing today and tomorrow, then after listening to Ian explain, we were off to the 1st part of the day.

Ian showed everyone what type of angles they can have in the trucks when they get body lifts and bigger tyres. He also showed us how to climb up a hill with rocks and how your wheels go into a groove with the rock when they are let down..... everyone then had a go, but Ian made the wives have a go to boost their driving knowledge on and off road as well.Once everyone was finished it was time for some lunch. We had a  sausage sizzle and coffee and tea as well. We were all talking a little bit for a while and then we were off to the 2nd part of the day where we did a river crossing. The 1st time the husbands drove and then we went and did some 4wheel driving up the mountain which Ian classed as beginner 4wheel driving because Ian had the advanced class planned for another time. When we got to the top of the mountain we turned around and came down the mountain again, but this time the wives were driving. As we were on our way down, Terry (Landover Defender) was talking to Ian over the CB asking him where we are and he met us at the bottom of the mountain where the ladies had their turn to do a river crossing with the radiator blind on (aka a tarp)... Ian went 1st but without a tarp and in deep water.

(NOW the best part of the trip hahahahahahaha) The ladies turn to do the river crossing and Kathy and her gang went after Ian but they went in and they got stuck in the river and then we noticed Ian was on his way over but not in the truck.. running over in the COLD COLD COLD water..... Gordon was the saver when he came and recovered them out from the water.... BUT I FORGOT TO SAY THAT WHEN IAN WAS RUNNING OVER HE FELL IN THE WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA and he had his wallet in his pocket but LUCKY for him he didn't have his mobile phone with him but his hand held radio got a little bit wet but it was okay

After Rob and his gang were out of the water, Kathy didn't want to do it, so in the end Rob drove them back over and were met by these guys that were there as well (not with us) and they gave him a big cheer (it was funny). Next Terry and his Wife went across (just to remind you Ian was still in the water) and Terry went the deeper end that Ian went and Ian yelled out NO!! but in the end hoped and prayed Terry and his Diane got there in the end.... Next it was Gordon's turn to go across and we offered Ian a lift but he walked back across in the cold water... Gordon made it look easy and gave it a little more when we went to pass Ian to make the water go on him more.. (Was funny)...

We then headed back to where we camped and they were going to have (as Ian likes to call it, Happy Hour) finger food which was FISH STUFF (EWWW GROSS). By that time it was about 4 or 4:30pm so Gordon and I left to head home, not before saying goodbye to everyone and yeah that’s about it... Oh yeah it snowed when we were doing some of the stuff.... AND DON'T FORGET THE FUNNIEST PART OF THE TRIP IAN FALLING IN THE WATER!!!!! (Smiles) :)
