It was great to get away for a relaxing weekend up at
Dave's property on the river at Wiseman's Ferry. The Club was providing all
the food for the weekend again so all everyone had to do was bring their
sleeping gear and bourbon.
After unpacking our gear and having a scrumptious
morning tea of scones, jam & cream, Dave took us off on a drive around the
area. Our first stop was a good climb up to a rock ledge that gave a great
view looking down onto the river where his property is located. Next it was
off to get some firewood for the night and there was one very unhappy
huntsman spider that was not too impressed when we interrupted his living
arrangements.....Urrrr he was big and hairy.

With all the wood cut for the night we continued on
our way for a great drive and then back to have lunch. Ian cooked up the
sausages on the Club barbie while Fay, Phillip and I organised the bread to
go with them. After lunch we all sat around and had a good relaxing chat
around the fire.
Soon it was time to get tea started, so while Ian and
the guys fired up the barbie and started on the kebabs, chops and steak, the
kitchen was a hive of activity with Fay and Phillip peeling potatoes while I
prepared a potato bake to go in the oven. Ian was back again in no time and
was cutting up vegetables for a stir fry and before long we were sitting
down to a terrific dinner prepared by everyone.
After dinner we sat around and watched "The
Transformers" DVD and marvelled at the technical effects used in making
the movie. We found some room for dessert somewhere along the way and after
the movie was over we all headed off to bed for a good night's sleep.

We all had a good sleep in as Mark and Ian had missed
out on sleep from the day before due to work and Dave and James had been
'partying' to the wee early hours of Saturday morning ( I don't think James
had been to bed at all like Mark)
George was the chef extraordinaire for breakfast and
before long he had the bacon and mushrooms cooked and was making quite a
pattern with the eggs on the barbie. Keith got the toast happening and while
Fay and I organised the teas and coffees, Ian cooked up a tomato and onion
concasse..... or something....What a feast....
After breakfast some of us relaxed outside watching
the boats and skiers pass by while others watched a few more DVD's inside.
We are all interested in doing a long trip to the outback next year, so we
started discussing plans on what we need to do etc. to get it happening.
More cups of tea, cold drinks and cold meat and salad sandwich/ rolls for
lunch and before long it was time to pack up to make our way home.
What a great relaxing weekend of doing not much more
than eating, drinking, 4WD driving and enjoying each others company. The
weather was perfect the whole time and the camaraderie was even better.
Thanks Dave for once again inviting us up to your home by the river and
thanks Mark, Fay, Keith, Phillip, George, James and Ian for such a great
weekend.
Can't wait for the next one.
